What are AI Agents?

AI agents this, agentic that. Everyone is going on about them... but what are they, really?

Well imagine you just hired a new assistant. You ask them to write a draft for our next email campaign, they get busy in a google doc and let you know when it's ready.

That's standard AI: write a prompt, get a response. It's a fast writer, but it's always waiting for your next command.

Now imagine you tell them: "we need a new newsletter: look at our content spreadsheet, see what newsworthy events we can hook onto, write the email, send it out, and text me the open stats later."

Then it actually goes and does it. While you are out getting a coffee and a croissant. That's an agent.
